Hey y’all – today I’m coming at you with something a little different.
Don’t worry – still some travel content here – but let’s get real for a second. I spend maybe 50 days a year on vacation. That’s awesome and all, but that leaves like 85% of the year where I’m just sitting at home, chilling with my pets and wondering if it’s too early for a glass of rosé . That means occasionally, I’m gonna need to venture a little more into the “lifestyle” realm.
It takes A LOT for me to be 100% completely in love with something. But when I am, I want to sing from the rooftops and stop every stranger in the street because it’s been so life changing for me. Since I am tone deaf and terrified of heights, I guess a blog post will have to do. Today, I’m serving up some serious recommendation love for my current obsessions. These are the marvelous little objects that have strolled into my life and make me want to never look back. Let’s dive into my Spring 2019 Obsessions!

PS – nothing in this post is sponsored and I have no brand affiliations. These are all personal recommendations with my seal of approval!

I’ve never been a big jewelry packer while traveling. However, I think it’s because my usual packing method is to throw all my earrings, necklaces, and rings into a little plastic baggie. Inevitably, my necklaces seem to intertwine all my sparkly baubles into a tangled mess that’s impossible to unravel.
Target recently launched a cute new travel line called Junglaow. While you’ll find everything from luggage tags to weekender bags, this little jewelry organizer caught my eye. The adorable zipper bag has little compartments to keep all your jewels in order while on the go. You can fasten your earnings to the faux-leather straps, snap your rings into place, and keep those pesky necklace chains from getting tangled.

This little organizer is actually fairly large and would be perfect for stashing some non-jewelry items to maximize packing space. I’m thinking of throwing some socks, my adaptor, or even my fold-up travel backpack in here, too!

I really struggle with sleeping. I’m a very light sleeper and between a snoring dog, blanket-stealing husband, and never-ending racing thoughts, it’s hard to relax and unwind. This pillow spray from thisworks has been a little aromatherapy godsend. A few spritzes on my pillow or comforter helps calm my mind and feel a little more peaceful. The lavender and chamomile blend smells AH-MAZ-ING and I find myself always falling asleep a little quicker when I use this powerhouse spray. If you struggle with jetlag, this would be a fantastic addition to your carry on (TSA approved sizing!)

You know how some girls just LOVE shoes and seem to have the perfect pair for every outfit? That’s not me. I DREAD shoe shopping – breaking in new shoes sucks and I feel so picky. I usually leave DSW empty handed but feeling very stressed. My go-to shoe is always a comfy yet dressy black flat which seems completely elusive to find. I decided to purchase my first pair of Rothy’s recently after reading rave reviews and guys – I’M HOOKED.

I’ve been trapezing in these black pointed flats since I got them the other week and I have yet to get a single blister from breaking these in. They’ve been ridiculously comfy and look so chic. If that wasn’t enough, these shoes are made from recycled water bottles (my 2019 resolution was to be more sustainable so that’s AWESOME) and are machine washable – no more funky shoe smells. I get these shoes are STEEP but I am already eyeing up another pair since I have been living in these. PS - size up half a size for the point style!

I’m very fair skinned and prone to stubborn undereye circles. From the endless makeup tutorials I’ve watched, there’s this thing called color correcting that can help but, well, I’m lucky if my mascara makes it on without smudging. Alas, no color correcting makeup voodoo magic for me. Enter – Dr. Brandt No More Baggage Eye De-Puffing gel.

I discovered this as part of my 2019 Spring FabFitFun box (another obsession of mine) and I’m so in love I bought another tube. This salmon-colored gel just gets patted under your eyes and POOF – undereye circles or puffy, jetlagged eyes are gone. Don’t worry about the color, it magically vanishes into your skin without the need for concealer or foundation. It’s got a slight cooling sensation to it that perks those eyes right up! Another TSA-approved item that’s got a permanent spot on my packing list!

Okay, I get the logic of positive affirmations, but man can they be awkward. I mean, sitting in from of a mirror chanting “I am enough” just feels weird at times. These cute little cards take all those odd feelings out of the equation. Each card is an affirmation, but it’s more of a comedic dose of positivity than a bunch of mushy self-help phrases. Whenever I need a little pick me up, these babies never fail to make me smile. PS – these would make the perfect gift for any person in your life!

Alright, alright, I’ll end with some travel content. While it’s always best to learn a few basic phrases in the native language of wherever you travel, I’ve experienced firsthand the struggles of language barriers. With our upcoming trip to Colombia taking us to some remote cities, we knew we needed to find a solution other than magically learning Spanish in a few weeks. Enter – the picture translator.

This slim little number is the size of a credit card and has little icons and graphics for a ton of common things a traveler might need to refer to. By simply pointing to the picture, you can bypass language snafus. While we still intend to know some basic phrases, this will come in handy when I need to verify that a dish is truly vegetarian for me or gestures just aren’t doing the trick.

Alright lovelies, there you have it! My current obsessions – and I truly mean obsessions. I’m not one to recommend products or services that haven’t been impactful and helpful for my life, so please know that anything I suggest to you has my special seal of approval. What item are you most interested in? I honestly think I’ll be a lifelong lover of the undereye gel!
PS – any cat lovers out there? My rescue kitty, Loki, was very interested when I took photos for this post and decided to crash it. Here are some outtakes of his impromptu kitty photo shoot – he does make for one cute cat model!
