Prague
bohemian, unexpected, and cultural
Rich with history and stunning architecture everywhere you turn, Prague is a bohemian fairytale. The colors, charm, and experiences rival that of any other "big name" European city. If you're looking for something a little different, Prague won't disappoint.

The Basics
Language
Czech is the official language of Prague. Fear not - with Prague being a major tourist destination, most people you encounter will speak some English.
Currency
The Czech Koruna/Crown is used in Prague. While credit cards are accepted, it's not widespread. Be prepared to pay cash at most shops and restaurants.
Transport
Prague does have a public transport system with buses and metros, but the city is so walkable we never used it outside of airport transports. Bring some comfy shoes and get your steps in!
When to Visit
April - June: Spring has mild temps and fewer crowds
July - August: Summers can get hot and you'll see more tourists
December - Prague is gorgeous during Christmastime

Other Advice & Insights
Must Try
Trdelníks are traditional cakes cooked on a spit. It's insanely delicious and some stores sell these stuffed with ice cream and chocolate sauce. These rank in my favorite desserts across the globe.

Tipping
It's expected to tip about 10% at restaurants. If you take a taxi, there's no need to tip unless the driver assists with your luggage. Tour guides should always be tipped.
Scammers
Prague caters to tourists and the scammers are fierce. Be wary of street vendors and performers who will lure you in and then demand payment. Scammers will even approach you while dining in restaurants.
Budgeting
A reasonable budget for those opting for midrange travels (public transportation, casual restaurants, standard hotel) is 80–200 crowns a day. Prices will vary depending on your preferences!
