It may be only a week into spring, but my attention is already focused on summer vacays. One of the top destinations across the globe to spend the summer months is in the Greek Isles – specifically, Mykonos. Known as the “Billionaire’s Playground”, this party island attracts celebrities, young crowds, and honeymooners in its peak months. With hot climates, sparkling seas, and white sand beaches dotted with bars and clubs, it’s truly a bucket list destination that holds its own against popular Santorini.

If you’ve been thinking of jet setting off to Mykonos, a lot of consideration should go into where you stay. Taxis can be expensive and scarce, making your hotel location extremely important depending on your itinerary. Your preference for nightlife will also play a major role in picking out a spot on the island. Today I’m rounding up my list of places to stay in Mykonos – from budget picks to luxury blowouts, with quiet retreats or hot spots in the middle of the action.

First, it’s important to get an idea of the key towns to stay in. While hotels are spread across the island, the most common areas are:
Mykonos Town – this is what you probably envision when you think of Mykonos. Blue-and-white alleys dotted with shops, the infamous windmills, the harbor filled with people. Mykonos Town has the most action and is filled with bars, restaurants, shops, and energy.
Ornos – Soak up the turquoise waters in the Ornos Beach area. This is a quieter pace ideal for those looking for something more laid back. It still has plenty of restaurants and cafes, but you’ll need to take a bus or taxi to get to Mykonos Town.
Platys Gialos – Another beachside town, Platys Gialos is home to one of the most popular beach spots and is ideal for those looking for tons of time by the sea or the famed beach clubs. Boats are available that can take you to southern parts of the island and taking a bus to Mykonos Town is your best option.
Price Guide (for the most basic room, based on average prices at the time of writing):
$ - Less than $100/night
$$ - $100-200/night
$$$ - $200+/night

$ - Carbonaki Hotel (around $52/night)
This boutique hotel is steps from the heart of Mykonos Town and within walking distance of the bus terminals, making it easy to get wherever you’d like to go. You’ll find all the hotel comforts you’d expect – 24 hour reception, private bathrooms, free WiFi – but getting such a steal in the center of town means the economy rooms are TINY. If you’re just looking for a modern place to rest your head, this is an ideal spot for you.

$$ - Leto Hotel (around $139/night)
Get the best of both worlds at this small boutique retreat. Each room has a balcony overlooking the Aegean sea, includes breakfast, and the hotel (equipped with a pool) is within walking distance of Megali Ammos Beach and the Mykonos Windmills. With only 25 rooms, this place fills up quick but is a great find in a stunning location.

$$$ - Semeli Hotel (around $210/night)
If a luxury getaway is what you’re craving, this five-star hotel won’t disappoint. You’ll find a heated pool, French door balconies in each room, and marble bathrooms that feel spa-like. Relax all day at this high-end hotel before walking to Mykonos Town for some nightlife.

$ - Mykonos Essence Hotel (around $99/night)
This four star hotel is within walking distance of Ornos Beach with seaside accommodations. Though you’ll likely want to spend your time at the beach, the hotel does offer a swimming pool and bar. You’ll find a bus station to get to Mykonos Town close enough to walk to and some rooms come with a deluxe sea view.

$$ - Dorion Hotel (around $148/night)
While further away from the beach (15 minute walk), this fully-equipped hotel offers free breakfast, private terraces, and select rooms with seaside views. Book lovers will appreciate the on-site library and sun-seekers can lounge by the quiet pool with a drink. If you’re looking for a quieter retreat to get some true R&R, this hotel fits the bill (and budget).

$$$ - Mykonos Ammos Hotel (around $211/night)
PS - This is where I stayed for my honeymoon!
If the beachside location, multiple dining options, or luxury accommodations don’t win you over, the service certainly will. Mykonos Ammos has been listed among the top small hotels in the world and offers great food, amazing drinks, and all the elegant touches a vacation should offer. Even the most basic room offers a waterfall shower and a private patio. While breakfast isn’t included, it’s such a gourmet spread it’s worth indulging in.

$ - Mykonos Drops (around $107/night)
Yes – slightly over $100/night but select dates had rates lower than this so I’m including it. Mykonos Drops offers a 24-hour front desk, free airport transfers, and a poolside balcony with every room. This is a quick walk to the beach and you can use the cost-savings of this budget hotel to hit up the infamous Scorpios beach club. Rooms are spacious with waterfall showers and the pool is perfect for lounging when you need a break from the busy beaches.

$$ - Palladium Hotel (around $149/night)
Recently renovated, this hotel is close to the famed Psarou beach and ranks as a traveler favorite on the island. The pool offers sea views and the rooms are modern with private bathtubs and balconies. The service is spectacular and guests are greeted with a welcome drink, fruit, and flowers. Take advantage of the free airport and port transfers and the breakfast buffet.

$$$ - Nissaki Hotel (around $203/night)
Even with the beaches nearby, you’ll find it hard to leave this slice of luxury. Boasting an indoor and outdoor pool, open-air restaurant, and a bar and café, this hotel leaves no detail overlooked. Standard rooms come with a jacuzzi tub and a steam cabin and views of the sea are widespread. Prices are high, but the alfresco restaurant onsite is worth a visit. As a bonus, a complimentary shuttle is available.

Bill & Coo Suites and Lounge - $$$
Usually shortlisted as one of the best hotels in the world, Bill & Coo is near Megali Ammos Beach and a ten-minute walk from Mykonos Town. With walk-in showers, coastal suites, and a dreamy pool, a stay here will make you feel like a celebrity.

Rocabella Mykonos Art Hotel - $$
Steps from Agios Stefanos beach, this is a traveler favorite. Rooms include private balconies and the hotel offers up an intimate vibe with a stunning pool.

Aether Boutique Stay - $
Another steal near Mykonos Town, this hotel offers touches of comfort (robes and slippers) with breakfast delivered to your room each morning. Small but stylish, this will fit all your needs without breaking the bank.

Whether you're looking to party hard at this idyllic island or soak up the sun in one of the most luxurious destinations in the world, Mykonos is a must-see Greek gem to add to your travel bucket list. With tons of upscale accommodation options to meet any needs, Mykonos is friendly, vibrant, and welcoming.
Are the Greek Isles on your shortlist to see? I was so grateful to spend my honeymoon there!
