Hey everyone! It's Day 8 of the 20 Posts in 20 Days project here at Real World Wanderlust! I'm going live with a new blog post every day for 20 days - and five random posts will have a giveaway prize for a lucky winner! Read on to see if today's post is a lucky one....

Does anyone else feel like everyone’s in Greece right now?

Like seriously, I feel like I went to bed and woke up with a feed filled with the beautiful blues of Santorini. Did all my favorite Instagrammers just take the same plane there? I am legit starting to believe there was some memo to go to Oia that I missed out on.

While I might be missing out on the current Santorini party, I was beyond lucky to go there in 2018 for my honeymoon. Guys – Santorini is AMAZING. It was so unique and exceeded my expectations after stalking pictures of its famous sunsets for years. Sure, the colors and the sea and the shops may draw you in, but the food should not be overlooked. Fresh seafood, delicious wine, garlicky tzatziki….just yum.

Today’s post is dedicated to those lucky Santorini trekkers and their taste buds. I’ve rounded up my Top 5 Foodies Stops in Santorini just in time for anyone heading out to the Greek Isles for summer. Read on and please, try not to drool.

Small plates are always a favorite while traveling since you can sample a ton of dishes to sample. Melitini was a bustling restaurant in the heart of Oia serving up simple, yet delicious, traditional Greek dishes. Standouts included the sausage and the octopus - wash it down with a local beer or the house wine. Reservations are strongly encouraged, especially to get a rooftop table.

Situated at the bottom of the famous Ammoudi Bay stairs, this seaside restaurant is ideal for scoring the best sunset view. The prawns were some of the best I had in all of Greece and the pasta dishes were a nice break from the straight up Greek dishes I’d been indulging in for most the trip. Don’t skip out on the loukoumades for dessert, which are honey and cinnamon fried dough balls (like donuts) that were way better than any baklava I had.

Alright guys, this is not on the list because of the food. This is making my blog post solely for its once-in-a-lifetime wine tasting experience. Situated above the Athinios port, the winery overlooks the caldera, making for an amazing backdrop while you get your vino on. We decided to go all out with the 16-wine flight and it made for one memorable afternoon. However, don’t do what I did, which was accidentally order one massive flight for EACH person (so yes, we had 32 glasses of wine between us). The wines were delicious and the views were even more impressive. We picked up a few bottles to bring home!

I can’t make a top food lists and NOT include a frozen dairy shop – ice cream is my life. Lolita’s is conveniently located in Oia and open late enough for a perfect post-dinner sweet stop. The prices are very reasonable and you’ll find a wide variety of flavors. The pistachio and rosewater/red pepper options were amazing and made for the perfect nightcap! Stop on in if you need to beat the heat or just indulge a little.

Katina is also located along Ammoudi Bay, making it another prime dinner stop for sunset seekers. This one makes the list because of the experience! Splurge and order a whole fish to split for the table. Not only are the catches ridiculously fresh, you get to head to the kitchens and pick it out yourself! Everything from the tzatziki to the bread was simple, straightforward, and so flavorful. We lingered here for about two hours – the views were great but the ambiance and food really make it special.

Santorini lived up to all my lofty expectations and the food was no exception. The flavors were fresh, the ingredients were local, and the feeling of love that went into each dish was felt. You really felt like family when we dined and each of these Santorini finds provided a remarkable experience. Be sure to save this post for your next adventure to the Greek Isles!

Looks like today isn't a giveaway post but stay tuned since there's still THREE more giveaways over the next 12 days!
